Growing up in a small close-knit community resulted in a strong connection to friends and family. Everyday observations, conversation, childhood obsessions, and family archives inspire my work. The relationship between image and object is cyclical and malleable. Material is deconstructed and folded into new works, objects become photographs, and photographs become objects.

I have discovered a combination of humor, nostalgia, and place in my work. I am currently working on a series of objects around the ideas and concepts of kitsch, where play and irony are recurring themes. Photography is used to capture a sense of place, while sculpture gives the ability to emphasize and magnify the cheap, gaudy, and generalized forms of an object.

Is this your main source of income?

Yes, but I also manage Holsum Studios.

I did. I got my BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, where I studied photography & sculpture.

No, I am from a small town about 3 hours north east.
